Default Please help with selecting a pressure canner

After reading the topic about canning veenison,I really need to get a canner and get to it.I love cooking wild game, and having tried canned venison feel I am missing out on some special treats.I have heard all sorts of horror stories about canners blowing up and such,so I want to be as safe as possible. My mom has an older canner made of thick aluminum, and I plan to dig it out and see if someone can test it's usability and safety.I think it will hold like 5-6 quart jars, and has the lid with flip up/screw down hasps on it.Any information would be greatly appreciated.I'm nearly beside myself with the prospect of making canned venison. Thanks in advance!

Do a search for "All American Pressure Canner". This is by far the best in my opinion. Low to no maintanence, as long as you keep it clean. No rubber gaskets. Positive locking system. It's great. I have had a 30 quart for about 15 years.
