Chuck:
yep , we have them around here. they are just like regular doves , just a lot bigger.I think they list them as ringnecks , you may check you regulations. in Fl. they are on the hunting list just like the morning doves.you can shoot them within the limits.around my mothers in polk co. they are in her yard 50 at a time.my brother in law feeds them all the time.
Goooooood eating.

Actually my neighbor shot one in my yard..It ticked me off. I called Fsh and Game.and she said the collared doves are not protected and the only law he broke was an underage boy shooting a pellet gun and on my property but she said they are not protected. With that in mind I thought about harvesting a few myself and trying them out.

I'll try that. I have one of those pellet guns that cock once ...and has 1000 FPS. It goes straight through a coffee can. I'll get a few and try them out. Hey.....the next time you are here in Florida we need to hook up. You don't need to give me any sausage or anything .I just want to say hi.and sit and chat a while over dinner.
