OK here is my hunting area.
The red areas are known bedding areas.
The yellow are know deer tracks.
The light blue " T" s are old tree stands
The white " T" s are stands I have used and haven' t seen deer
The orange " T" stand I put up today.
The blue dots are fresh scrapes
The purpleish pink stuff is tall grass (great cover)
The wind moves from the upper left corner to the lower right.
The reason I set my stand up where I did is because the farmer whose property I am hunting as seen a good sized buck moving along that yellow path past my stand, into the field and the deer crosses the street to a different property. The buck is moving at first light.
The two areas where I had stands (the white " T" s) have some AWESOME sign but I never see deer there. The stand in the upper left corner is near some HUGE buck tracks where the buck is clearly chasing does.
With all this sign I have yet to see a deer.
There are NO other hunters on this property and gun hunters in surrounding properties. Yes that is a golf course off the the right.
The fields seen are tobacco fields but now have grass (like your lawn) and stuff growing in them. There are white oaks and red oaks near all bedding areas but FEW acorns left.
I should have good luck with my new stand even though the wind is not in my favor. I set up VERY high and will do my best to be scent free.
Any other ideas on why I' m not seeing many deer?
