Having problems with my treestand...I HATE chains!
I have a hang stand that has a chain to tie it to the tree. I can' t ever get the treestand to get tight enough to STAND on!. At one notch, it seems tight, but when i step on the stand, it nearly falls 10 ft. down the tree. Should i cut the chain and attach a ratchet strap?

A few thoughts. Are you putting the stand base up before tightning the chains? I tighten chains firts then lower the base, it tightens itself even with a litlle slack in the chain. If still having trouble try using a Ratchet Strap. Some people use them anyways just for safety.

I do use the chain though if it can be around the tree and on top of a limb. I do feel a little bit safe then, but now i got a ratchet strap around the base and a T-screw in the middle of the frame. the chain almost dangles, but the stand doesn' t budge, so I might ditch the chain and go ahead and put a heavy duty ratchet strap on the stand.

You could not pay me enough money to stand on stand that is suspended only by a chain.
My hanging stands, even the stands with a chain, always have no less then 2 HD cinch straps. My stands that have the cables that support the standing base, have a backup cable of larger diameter (2 cables per side).
