controlling my scent
I have a question for you guys that walk in and out on foot. I bow hunt public land, and i cant use an ATV. This means i have to carry my stand, bow, and camelback full of water to my hunting site. It is quite a walk, but I'm in good shape so its not a problem. After the long walk and exerting myself I'm usually a big sweat ball lol. How do you keep the deer from smelling you? I use all the scent killer sprays, and I even walk to my stand in 45 degree cold in a tshirt to keep from sweating (this helps alot, but im still a little clammy in places). When i get to my spot I spray myself again and get dressed. Not to mention watching the wind that changes direction and swirls everywhere. It seems like its impossible to be scent free, and those deer can and WILL smell you. Any tips or tricks I can use?
This is my first year bowhunting from a stand. Im getting a Summit Viper stand, and I want to make this happen!

That's a nice young buck.
And as far as your scent control goes you are doing just about all you can. Most importantly is watching the wind and being as silent as possible.
Scent control products are good at reducing most human scent but there is always some remaining.
Another tip I can give is try not to touch trees and branches when you're close to your stand. A passing deer may catch a whiff of it and go on high alert.
Staying upwind and being quiet is better than any scent control.
