Default lube the cable slide?

I just got my bow out to shoot target in the yard and the slide that the cables attach to on my bow seems very dry and kind of catches when I draw the bow. Should I lube the slide? And if so what with?

If it's sticking or chattering it's most likely a build uo of dust and/or grit. The hest thing you can do with the one you have is to use alcohol and a cloth to clean the rod. If you can do so I would also recommend cleaning the inside surface of the slide itself. Just pull it off the end of the rod and use a QTip and alcohol.

Now, if you really would like a better option then replace it with a Teflon model such as that made by Simms or a couple other companies. And take this to the bank; if it isn't white then it's not Teflon. Teflon will have less of a tendency to chatter if and when it gets wet. AGAIN, occasionally clean the rod with alcohol.

Any kind of lube will just gum it up and attract more grit that casues some of the problems you are now having.

Thank you very much. Ill try cleaning it first. That teflon does sound like a great idea though

I use Hoppe's Dri-Lube with Teflon. It comes in a spray can.

First thing I do on any bow I buy that has a cable slide is to put on a Saunders Hyper Glide Slide, end of problem.

Get a teflon cable slide, just keep it clean and you never lube them. If you have to lube your cable slide something is wrong and you never know when it will start sticking again.

I agree, the Saunders Hyper Glide is the best slide on the market. No need to worry about it hanging up.
