Default New Hoyt Maxxis 31 owner

I chose.......I am now the owner of a Hoyt Maxxis 31 in flat black. I shot the Hoyt Maxxis, Mathews Z7 and Bowtech Admiral, and for me the Hoyt had a slight advantage in draw and balance, although all three bows were excellent.

I bought it off Ebay.....not my smartest decision but it did save me a couple hundred bucks. It is a custom shop bow, 55-65 lbs (max 66 lbs). 66 Lbs is actually what I wanted, so I just cranked it down and I am good to go. I have played with it some in my basement, and I think the deer will rue this day next hunting season.

Cna't wait for the snow to melt so I can sight it in out to 40 yards.

I think the Alphamax and Maxxis Bows are Hoyt's best offering in several years.

I personally liked the AlphaMax a little better than the Maxxis, but I am sure you will be very pleased with your choice.

Due to the snow and generally bad weather here in WV, my shooting has been limited to my basement that provides me a 16 yard lane.

After a little tuning, I am consistently grouping 4 arrows touching...just awesome (except for the fletching damage). I can't wait to get outside and a)see how far out I can get with 1 pin and b) sight it in to 50 or 60 yards.

The bow is so smooth and balanced and quiet...really remarkablly so. No hand shock at all...totally neutral. And what I like best about it compared to the other excellent bows I tested is the smooth draw...for my money the smoothest, most consistant draw of the high end bows...no real hump, nice valley and hard back wall. I took it to a bow shop (Bowtech Dealer) to have the cat whiskers put on and the guys at the shop all tried it and did not believe that the pull was 65 lbs until they actually used a pull guage

I love my Alphamax I got last year dearly, the Maxxis isn't too much different, just slight improvements. My Alphamax has got to last me years though, these bows are getting expensive!

I plan to have this bow for many years. It is replacing an older PSE Stingray I bought a couple of years ago on Ebay when I started bow hunting, and I wanted to upgrade into something that would not make me jealous of other bows for quite some time.
