I need some help with a new bow.

So I found a deal on last years model of PSE X force GX it has a 7" BH 50-60# and the guy said that with a 300 grain arrow it will run around 310 fps.... well Rob Brought it to my attention that that's a very small amount of K.E. So what I need help is what kind of speeds would I be able to get with around a 400 grain arrow at 29" maxed poundage. I'm really looking for any information that anyone can give me because I'd really like to hop on this bow if I can. I wanna break 300 fps but I don't know if its possible with a hunting setup with a 100 grain tip.

Any insight into this would be awesome!!

It's not so much the KE as that set up will likely get around 64 ft lbs but it's the light 300 grain arrow that has me worried as far as PA whitetails and penetration/momentum.

I thought maybe iamyourhuckleberry has more input on the PSE line. I couldn't help him with that Will.

Anyone else with the PSE line that could give him some insight on speed with a heavier arrow out of mentioned bow?

I went to this>http://www.backcountrybowhunting.com/articles/tools.php and typed in everything and it says you'll be at 298fps and 79lbs ke with a 400gr arrow and 29" and 60lbs. Sounds like a deer killin machine to me. And i have to say i shot most of the pse and the gx was the only one i liked, its a sweet bow for sure.

Ryan, that's some pretty good numbers. You'll be much happier with a 400 ish grain arrow than a 300 for whitetails.

Thanks Wayne, and I agree with you the GX is my favorite of the X force line, Thanks a lot for the help also, I just wanted to be pulling 60+/- pounds and be able to have around 300 fps out of it.

298fps at 60lbs, with a 400 grain arrow, producing 79lbs of KE....Amazing numbers!!!!

That actually made my eyes pop a little... That would be a deer killing (anything in North America killing) machine for sure!

Well I just got off the phone with the guy and he said the max he got out of it for poundage was 67# so I'm thinking I'll be around 311fps with a 400 grain arrow. pushing 85.9 ft/lbs of KE. Problem is, to me thats just a bunch of numbers.... Is that good bad or what?? anyone know?

To my way of thinking momentum is king re: hunting arrow performance. KE is a product of velocity & arrow weight. As arrows get lighter and speed increases, or the other way as arrows get heavier, KE doesn't change much. The problem with light arrows is momentum is much less. Momentum is what gives good penetration. And momentum is a product of arrow weight. Specifically heavier arrows carry more momentum as they aren't slowed down as quickly as lightweight arrows when they meet resistance.
