Default Extreme Cold, I found where the deer are

I hunted for 3 hrs yesterday pm till dark, with my LW hand climber. I saw a lot of deer sign, and saw 6 different deer from my stand. This is the only one that was within bow range. 15 yds. It was so cold that my camera shutter was freezing half open. (-12)I was in a river bottom, and fresh sign was everywhere. The open flats in the timber have been slow for hunting/and deer sign, and now I know why. Deer are in the protection down in the river bottoms. I have been warm as toast using my HardcoreHunter Inferno suit,(I took an extreme cold weather military sleeping bad, sewed legs in it, use buckles to close the legs, so there is no hassle of having to place my legs in a sleeve like conventional suits have, sewed super strong magnets to close the upper chest part, for silent deployment at the time of a shot, and covered it in 3D leafy camo. This combined with my Irish setter 2000 gr snow Claw boots and topped off with Icebreaker boot blankets. Feels great, after all of these years, to finally beat the cold with a great setup. Here are pics from yesterday.

yes, if you see one you will usually see a few more as they are bunched up for sure. I just have to look out at my bird feeders, they are hungary...

I know where my deer are, they are just unpredictable where they exit the thicket I'm hunting. Frustrating at times. I hunted from 2:00PM til dark yesterday and didn't see a deer. We've been having high winds and very cold temps (single digit windchills), so that's not helping things.

Well pogo, I just decided to think like a deer or any animal, and go where it is the warmest. That is down in the thick cover and out of the wind, like river bottoms provide. This yearling I took pics of was nibbling on tree twigs, so maybe your food ploy hunting isn't able to compete with shelter and tree browse.

Pines are 15 degrees warmer than the surrounding area at times, that's where I'd go. Noticed some pines in your pic.

Yes, Cedars grow wild in the river bottoms too.
