Compound bow maintenance
 

How often do cams need lubrication and strings need waxing? Also, do you have to use a certain string wax or lube for the cams? I have had my bow for 2 years now and I need to do some maintenance on it. Thanks.

I wax my bow string every other time I shoot. The newer bows should have sealed bearings in the cam and idler wheel so they don't need to be lubricated. Once a year I remove the axles and wipe everything really good unless I hunt in dusty or wet conditions then I do it more often. Other than that just check things over and look for normal wear and you should be good.

wax string maybe once a month or so. tops. once every other month......whenever it needs to be....
ya every other time shooting sounds crazy!?

Is that to much? My wife and I shoot every weekend and I shoot between 300 and 400 arrows between Saturday and Sunday. I didn't think every other time would be too much. Maybe every 2-3 times I go out?
