Default Question about a hit on Buck

Had a nice eight maybe 120-125 stop at 15 yds watched the fletching bury right behind shoulder.Full penetration arrow covered in blood.Waited 1 1/2 hours and ended kicking him up 75 yds from where I hit him.Ran maybe two hundred yds into a patch of corn 50yds by 200yds.Left the area went back 4hours later and found blood on corn stalks both sides where he entered.walked the three other sides and there is no sign of him leaving.I am sick to my stomach what do you guys think.I am assuming couldnt be double lung but maybe one lung. What do you guys think I am giving him till morning.Pray for me Thanks Mike

It sounds like (retired/plenty of time) you'll have to just walk up and down the rows until you find him or more sign of him. Good luck, and keep us posted.

If he's in there, he'll be easy to find. I'd guess you hit 1 lung at best. But if you put the arrow through him with one hole in front of the diaphram, he'll be dead somewhere nearby. Good luck.

Hopefully he will be laying dead in the corn. Just get out there and follow the trail where he went into the corn and hopefully you can follow it right to him. good luck

VOID area??? Possibly you did not see what you thought and hit above the spine? Or you hit to low and just entered the briskit missing the heart.

IF you seen your arrow right behind the shoulder and the deer was completely broadside he would have died within 100 yards, what happen is the deer was probably on an angle (it doesn't take much) and you single lunged him.. Let him go and pick up his blood tomorrow and with luck you may recover your buck... If you push him you may never find him.

This story is very comparible to a buddy of mine and his dad last year. My buddys dad shot a BIG buck at last shooting light. Got the whole thing on film. The shot looked good, even looked good on TV, but with many hours of searching never recovered the buck. Everyone that watched the video agreed, dead deer some where, although they couldn't find it. Even had a corn field to search, and CRP. Well, fast forward to rifle season and my buddys cousin shoots the very same deer. The arrow had hit lower than everyone thought, missing all the vitals completely. Was nearly completely healed up from the arrow at the time it was killed with the rifle. It did end up scoring 160+" too.

Well I found him right where I backed out.He was actually only fifteen yards into the corn.He wasnt a 120 class either but a decent eight and thats a story in itself. When I arrowed him it looked to me exactly as he is but when I kicked him up he almost ran my buddy over and he swore he was 120-125.Anyway I ended up hitting him a little more forward than I thought and he was actually quartering away a touch. The arrow entered the shoulder caught the right lung and on the exit went between the left lung and heart so it was a one lung hit.He probably did expire yesterday but Im glad I backed out and recovered him today. If I can figure out how to post pics or if I could email them to someone to post I will. Thanks to all and keep on hunting. Mike
