Default Shot my First Buck

I posted earlier in the year on thread about our 2009 goals and mine was to finally kill a buck and I'm proud to say that I have accomplished that goal in a big way. I shot this buck in Dunn Co. WI on private land that I got to hunt for the first time this year. I had seen this deer and a smaller buck two weekends prior but they both stayed well out of range. I took work of last thursday and friday with the intentions of hunting hard all weekend and I was pumped. I kept asking myself the question of whether I'd be able to pass on the smaller buck (small 8pt) if he gave me an opportunity first but luckily I never had to make that call. An hour into the first morning I see this deer 60 yds away on the opposite ridge and I grabbed my grunt call. First grunt grabbed his attention and after two more short grunts he was coming in on a dime. He veered off to my right to where I had no shooting lanes cut but I drew anyways and he snuck into a small opening quartering hard away at 27 yds and I let it fly. I thought I hit back and low but but after only 30 yds he stopped and face planted. With the angle I ended up putting my Slick Trick straight through his heart. It all happened so fast that I can't even remember what pin I put on him. What an awesome experience, I can't wait to get at it again next season. Here are the pics:

The body was huge, I'm guessing around 200lbs dressed. The four quarters weighed 70lbs when I dropped them at the processor. I'm still sore today from dragging him about 200yds all by myself. I'm having the antlers mounted.
