Default Suburban Hunting Tip

I have been doing some suburban hunting and I shot a doe today.

To remove my deer from the woods without disturbing/alerting the non-hunters, I have been using a army surplus body bag. When I was in the army, we used them for sleeping bag covers. They have sturdy handles and they slide across the ground easily. You just zip your deer inside and drag to your car.

Pic below.

Nighty nite, Ms. Doe!

Thank you for doing this it helps all of us hunters. The last thing we need to do is give PETA more ammunition and it is respectful to those that don't enjoy the sport. I see too many pickups going down the road with their tailgate open and the deer's tongue flopping all over the place.

So where do you get body bags, Army/Navy Surplus stores? I would feel strange asking for body bags, LOL

Hi Brett - You oughtta try this suburban stuff.

Rickmur - There are a bunch of internet surplus sources. Price is about $25 with shipping. I think I ordered mine here:

Congrats on the doe. That is a great tip too. I'll have to remember that.

I have been participating in a suburban Antlerless Bowhunt for 3 years now. I have a camo tarp that I put the deer in & tie shut (Grommet holes in tarp).
It's the Waterproof type & with the deer in it it pulls very easy-like a sled on snow & goes over logs real easy.
No one knows I have the deer-taken 3 out in the 3 years.
I think I got the tarp at WalMart for $7-8.

Then you throw the bloody bag in the washer with your wife's good clothes?

My problem is getting to and from the woods with a bow. The woods near my house is about 5 houses down frpm mine. I have to walk down the sidewalk, in camo and holding a bow to get down there. Kind of awkward.

Until someone calls in saying there is a guy draging bodies out of the woods. That would be a little funny.
