Default What do you guys do?

Ok so I know we have all been in this situation. Your hunting and time is about up and you still got deer in the area, I have been waiting till it got darker but sometimes you just have to leave. What do you guys do when you still have deer in the field when shooting light is up.

If I have to get down, I will try and slide out thru the timber and back around where the deer are. I hate blowing a stand like that and try to avoid it if at all possible.

Eventually you've got to leave. I wait until it's dark, then I pack up and climb down as quietly I can, hoping I don't get busted on the way down. I move quietly away from the tree and then once I am a little ways from my tree, I turn my light on and just start walking. I don't worry too much about being seen moving in the dark. That happens all the time. What I DO NOT want to happen is to have them see me in my tree.

If I know I'm going to be hunting a food source where I might get "pinned" down I will try to have someone pick me up. Yep, drive rt. to the stand. I do it all the time when I'm working. Both, drop off and P/U hunters. If that's not an option you can lower your backpack to the ground and bounce it up and down. I've even resorted to turning my head and howling. Whatever you do, try not to get busted and like "kickin buck" mentioned above do your best to exit by slipping through the timber. You may not blow a stand if you get busted once or twice but make a steady habit of it and you might as well take that stand down and move it.

I would either just get down (if their far enough away) or make some noise to kinda spook them off.

I guess i haven't really tried making noise, last night I considered grunting but they ended up leaving so I could go.

Not sure if this is the best thing or not, but I make a blowing sound after I get out of the tree if there are still deer around. I'm hoping they think I'm just another deer and kinda tip on off. Then I just ease my way out as quitely as possible. Has worked before but not all the time

I keep a few acorns or small pebbles in my pocket for this reason.
