Default Little red thingy on my arrow.

I bought a dozen carbon express maxima hunters. I also bought two luminocks. Well the little red thing betweent he arrow and the nock will not let the luminoc come on. SO i removed it and they work find. Should i take them off the other arrows i use. Also do they do anything? If i scratch the paint off the ends will the let the luminocs work right.

Those are for looks. They cost 7.00 per arrow for them to put on.

Its just called a nock collar. It supposedly gives the arrow more durability.... I don't think it will have any impact if you take it off. Go for it.

I had the same problem with my maxima's (only I didnt spring the extra few bucks to get the hunters). All you have to do is sand down the end of the 'little red thing' so the paint is gone just like you suggested. I say 'sand down' but just knock the paint off, I did it on the concrete at my house while out back shooting. I believe they are also to keep you from busting the a$$ end of your arrow when target shooting.
