Default corn and beans.

Hey i am hunting a bean field turning brown though still alittle yellow/green. When will the deer start eating them. There in the field though in small numbers. Also at what point do they hit beans and corn the most. just before cutting or after. If after how long after

This is going to depend on the area youre in. The deer in central Wi were hitting the beans and corn late summer and early bow season now it seems they want nothing to do with either of them. I havent seen a deer come into my cornfields for a couple weeks. Usually once the beans drop their leaves and the corn starts to ripen the deer should be hitting them. The corn here is still sitting about 50% - 60% moisture. Not sure about the beans. Corn should be atleast 20% moisture for harvesting. Even 50% is too high for high moisture corn for silage. Now with all the rain weve had its going to be even longer before we get into the fields to harvest the corn and beans. Once they are harvested the deer will come along and pick up what was left behind.

Ya we had a hard week for rain and more coming. Guess that helps me but not the farmer. I found two good spot i want to gun hunt but there cut already. Hopefully they wait on the bean field i ma hunting. Seems normaly they plant late harvest late on the Fish and wildlife area i was told they do this alot to help the hunters. Guess they lease the land out to some local farmers.
