Today was the first day of muzzle loader and small game in pa. I got to my stand(I hunt from the ground). Laid my bow down. Took off my fluorescent orange vest and propped it up so it could be seen from all sides. I look in my fanny pack for my range finder and as Im doing this, I hear somebody shoot from down the hill from me.Then I hear the bullet go through the trees above me. Scared the crap out of me. I am 45 and have been hunting since I was 12 and never had this happen to me. The guy came up the hill about 45 minutes later. I told him that I was there and to warn any other hunters around that I was there. Told him what happened and he was shocked. He said just him and his dad were there. I asked him again that if he saw any other hunters to pass the message along. He said no problem. His dad walks up the hill about an hour later and looked completely clueless of what he was doing. I was a little scared at that moment, even to let him know I was there. He just went on his way up the hill. Like I said never had this happen to me before and kinda shook me up. I know they knew I wasnt there. Just wanted to tell you all be careful out there especially when the seasons overlap.
Sorry to here that. That's the trouble with combined gun and archery mixed together. I used to hunt Potter and Tioga Co. Found out early on not to bowhunt during any firearms season till later on when things settle down a bit. Good luck and stay safe!
