Default The Poke???

I was just sitting around watching tv and I noticed a pattern. Every hunter pokes the animal to make sure its dead.... Well that made me think.... What if its not?? And if its not. Then what!?!?!? I'm just curious if its ever happened to anyone like have you ever poked it and had it move???

Ryan.

I have never had one get up . but i heard a story once wear these two guys went to recover the deer and as he grabbed the deer around the neck to show it off to the other
it got up . so he put it in a head lock as the thing tried to bounce away with him in tow.
It went about 30 yards before it collapsed with the guy on it . His buddy could not stop laughing to give him a hand. that had to be funny to see

Worst one I've heard of is a guy getting kicked....and the hoof nearly opened up his stomach.

I shot a buck last year that we found and drug about 100 yards. When I went to make the first cut to gut him, his heart started pounding. I was freakin out. It got me thinking, what would I have done if he would have just gotten up. Idk...

One of my friends last year killed a buck. Him and his brother went to pick him up by the horns and the buck got up and started dragging him then he died.

Just experiences, that kinda scared me and got me thinking

Theres a story about a guy from the city went hunting with my dad and shot a good buck. He was so happy, put his rifle in the deers antlers, to take a picture. The deer got up took off! Needless to say he lost his buck and rifle. We looked for the rifle for week. Id hated to be him, to go home and tell his wife. LOL LOL

One time I shot a doe and thought i was dead. I bent over to start gutting it and I seen her front leg coil and she let out a horendous kick. I moved back as fast as I could and her hoof just missed my face. I was very thankful it missed. Needless to say I shot her again.

Last year during coon season I shot one and I thought it was dead so I went to poke it with my .22 and it bit the barrel of my gun. It was kinda funny because the coon just quickly bit my barrels tips. like his mouth was around the whole barrel. It scared the crap out of me. theres only two animals that have made me jump like a girl... a little mouse that jumps out of no where and a half dead coon that bites my gun.
