I have exactly opposite experiences with the can. It is one of two calls that I make sure I have in my pack. The other call is a fawn bleat during the early archery season.
I have called in several bucks from spikes to 8 points with the can. I have seen the can turn a buck that was a couple of hundred yards away a full 90 degrees and I shot him 10 feet from the tree I was in.
