Default Just dropped my bow from 30'

I was in my favorite (most comfortable) stand, and have carabiners on each of my hoist ropes. I hoisted my pack and bow and was organizing. I had a hanger for pack and as I undid the caribiner from bow, it slid off rail and landed on the nocked arrow, shattered the arrow and then all I heard was thump!

I climbed down, brought it home changed to field tips and bullseye on the 20 pin, 1/2 inch off my 30 pin...so the Apex sights are tough, that was some kind of shock put on whole bow! I couldnt watch it hit....but at least I know my Hoyt is made like a Hoyt and Im back in the game.

Re heating my carbon activated scent clothes now and had lunch. Now Im ready for anything!

Might not be a bad idea to have a pro shop look at it too. Glad everything seems ok.

Holy cow, that amazing. Good to find out its still ticking. Just look it over for cracks and what not. Make sure cams don't look bent. Thats all a pro-shop can do.

I dropped a slug gun about 2 years ago from 25ft. so don't feel bad.

i dropped my bow from that height a few years ago. I was some scared pullin it back for the first time even after visually inspecting it!!! My first few arrows were all over but then i quickly realized it was just me and my preconceived notion that something must be broken. I settled down and concentrated on my form and holding through my shot and all was good. BTW mine was a hoyt too!!

I was a wreck when mine came off the line while I was lowering it at about 6 ft, can't imagine a 30' drop.

Hope it all checks out for ya!

Why in the hell are you 30 feet in the air? As a former iron worker, 30 feet is very high for a tree stand. My guess you are at 12-18.

I have stands at are 30ft. Many reasons. Sometimes your in a valley and need the hieght to hunt even eye level with deer on hllsides. My standard hieght is 24-25ft.

I had a friend that told me he hunts from 40 feet up in a tree. Obviously he doesnt realize height as well as he thinks. Most likely he was only 20-25.

Its actualy 2 sets of 16' steps 16 + 16 = 32'. My hoist line is from platform, so Im still guessing 30...maybe even more. I love it up there....they have no clue and cant smell you fart!

Its a perfect stand. I can see clover field and right on two trails that converge, Its the big oak with a perfect view of all I need to see, especially muzzleloader season.

It may sound high, but its that high for a purpose....what does a steel worker have to saysomething about a treee stand!?/
