Default One of those days....

Well I found Monday to be one of my most humorous days I have ever encountered while hunting.

First off I get to this new place to hunt and I have never been there before so I am clueless on where to go to get to the spot my friend was talking about.

He said there was a 4-wheeler trail all the way back to the spot where I was supposed to go, so I figured it would be an easy walk....Thats where it all began haha

I have a climber strapped to my back walking through some of the thickest undergrowth I have ever seen in my life! I think I managed to come into contact with every thorn bush and burr plant there was on the property! My hands are torn to pieces and are painted a nice shade of red.

I am walking at a steady pace and get thrown back because my climber gets stuck on a tree somehow and it took me forever to get it loose. Not too long after that I finally stumble upon my friends climber so I FINALLY made it after about 500 yards of the jungle.

I get the climber set up on the tree and get ready to climb and I forgot the stupid tree strap for my harness!! So I already got in the woods late so I just decided to climb just a hair up the tree...maybe not even 10 feet just to get some elevation since I was on a nice ridge.

Well that plan was also hindered because as I was climbing the stand became too loose towards the middle of the tree so I had to climb back and tighten it. ATTEMPT #2 I climb up and get the stand firmly attached to the tree and go to pull up my bow. SOMEHOW! the rope comes undone and my bow is nice and cozy on the ground and I have 22 feet of camo rope in my hand haha.

SO....Had to climb back down and I didnt even bother climbing back up...I figured it was a sign to sit my butt on the ground for this hunt. I had no problem with that except the mosquitoes were insane! SO.....I am looking through my pack for my thermacell and LO and BEHOLD! ITS NOT THERE!!! I laughed for a bit and just focused on swatting the little blood suckers as I watched for deer.

I did see a nice buck that evening and plan on trying again thursday! Hope something goes good this time lol
