Default Jumped the string :(

I had my chance...went out tonight where i sall two fawns last nigth. so i went out looking for mamam or pappa. WELL i sall them... daddy walked out of the corn around 7:00 and was walking right towards my woods. (i was in a ditch) I gave him a grunt and he walked right towrds me...crossed the ditch and started walking it right to me. he got to 25 yards and stoped. i couldnt shoot cuz there was a bush inthe way. so he starts walking again stops in another 5 years at 20 yards and.. he cant go much further then busting me now...so i let the arrow fly. and well no excusses but he jumped the string! i was so angry. he was a wide six.. but then i turned around to where he came from and there was a fork and a does RIGHT BEHIND me. of coarse wen i turnt they took off but yeah they were about walking on me. I hope i get anothr crack at him considering they all ran into my woods after that. im devistated.

He jumped it or ducked it? From the ground (ditch) at that distance it seems difficult to jump the string at that distance. Did your string slap your arm or possibly a sound had him on the edge before the shot and he just coincidently bolted before your arrow actually left the end of the bow?

Anyway, dont give up, especially if you know the route that they are using. I would suggest moving somewhere else next hunt as the boy may be wary of the ditch for a few days.

Set up at the woods where he bolted to and if you arent in the air, get plenty of cover in front of you for your pull. dont stress, its still early and at least you know you have deer on your property!

Don't give up and don't fret about it so much...it happens to all of us...you miss high or miss low...deer ducks the shot...the spot you in the tree....better that then wounding him andn ot finding him.

Just get back out there. and next time if you have other deer around, try and minimize your movement if you can..move when they are turned away and not looking...Keep at it...you'll tag one!
