Ok... so me and a couple buds have been talking about putting together a weekend getaway/hunting trip for this fall. I did some research and found this sweet primitive cabin that rents for $35/night and is surrounded by 60,000 acres of state forest here in Ohio. I am really excited, just for the fact that i will finally get to hunt the infamous Adams county Ohio.
My question is how do all of you practice your scent control when you do not have access to a running shower etc.... I plan on avoiding camp fire smoke/all other foreign odors while in my hunting gear and placing all my clothes back into my air tight bag after each hunt. How should i go about cleaning my body/hair before each hunt? I plan on hunting two mornings and two evenings and i'm sure that i will be smelling pretty foul not to far into the weekend. What do you guy's recommend?
i think i have seen moist towlette type items that are scent controlled. do a search of some scent killers and i you should find them. they are used for high perspiration areas but im sure you could use them all over.
what i do is have a couple jugs of water specifically for usin to wash up with...then i just boil it and put it in a bucket by the time your done boilin all the water the temp has cooled down enough to wash up...get a couple towels and stand on those or sumthin and just wash up from there...just pick a private spot...pics surface quickly!! haha
I wouldn't avoid the smoke. Only hunt in your hunting clothes nothing else. Wash up like they used to do before there was plumbing. Go into Portsmouth and use the Laundromat. Don't spare the scent killer.
A propane turkey fryer makes an excelent hot water tank.

LOL Ask Grama. Pray they don't have any rotary phones. JK.
If you want to really step this up do as the Native Americans did, bath in a cold running stream. A scent killer and natural cover scent, add in some spiritual chanting while at it and your good to go.

I always wondered why all the Native American chants I heard started with Ahhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyyaaaaaaaaaahooooooowwww woooooooooowwweeeeeeeeeee...It was the cold water. Good advice.

Haha... i'm not that macho. Next year i'm going on a search for a natural hot spring and setting up camp near that, lol.
Dead Down Wind makes some "baby wipe" type things. They are awesome. On the few times where I did not have access to a shower, I just used a bunch of these and took a "dry" bath.
I carry them in my pack and wipe down with them several times during the course of the day as well, even if I was able to take a shower. They work great.
