Depends on what type of land you're looking for. If you're looking for some private land then you might have to get out there and knock on some doors. Pretty tough finding some this time of year though.

There are some state land possibilities around the area. You can go out to Sleepy Hollow and setup there. Not sure how crowded it is during bow season but I know during gun it gets pretty crazy. I think you can hunt at Rose lake too over by Bath.

I hunt private land in St. Johns so I haven't hunted public land in a long time but the Maple River game area north on 27 is pretty good too I hear. I've got some buddies that hunt that and there are allways some good deer taken out of that area. Just gotta find your spot.

Go here to check out state game areas in the counties you're looking for. Hope it helps. Let me know how you do!

Thanks for the suggestions. I looked at Sleepy Hollow but alot of people just hike through there and that would really just set me off if I saw that. I have been meaning to look at Rose Lake though. I should go knock on some houses but like you said its a little late. Thanks again

If you don't mind the drive I would look at the Maple River State Game area. There's a LOT of land up there. You can also hunt at Muskrat Lake, but that land is significantly smaller then the others. Good luck!

I am just east of you. Here is the trick. Find the deer, go to the library and make a copy of the plat map. Do a search on the name and get some information. Go knock on there door and share some information that you know about the property. Provide gifts and respect the land. Continue asking surrounding areas and soon you will succeed. I wish that it did not have to be that difficult but that is how I found it to be up here. Good luck.

I think that it is called a Plat Map. You will see the owner and acres. If you are new to the area, I would recommend 2 locations for great fun. There is a sportsman with a great archery setup near the intersection of 69 and 96. Also, there is a great 3d indoor range in Owosso worth the trip. Best place to pick up archery supplies is lifford archery on the south side of lansing and JC archery in stockbridge. Lifford is sure knows is sport. Good luck and maybe we could meet sometime and hit one of the courses. Later
