Nikon 550 rangefinder and a request

Last week I lost the battery cover to my rangefinder when it fell out of my stand. I heard it fall, but didn't know what it was at the time. I called Nikon on 9/2 and was told 3-5 day shipping, still no part, called back today and was told that it is back ordered. Nikon has no idea when it will ship. I tried looking in the leaves under my stand yesterday, but no luck.

If anyone has a rangefinder lying around that they no longer use or one that is broken, please p.m. me. I need that battery cover badly and when my back ordered part comes in I can send it or the new one back to you.

Also if you have a nikon rangefinder, put tape over that battery cover and don't ever lose it. The part is $10.33 plus up to $40 shipping. Shipping sounds ridiculous, but the parts people couldn't tell me the amount only that they refund the difference between the $40 and actual shipping costs.

That shipping is crazy. I have a nikon 550 but no spare parts. But heres an idea, i think that that cover has some metal on it so get a magnet of some sort and run in around the stand and maybe that will be some help.
