Default California Deer

This last weekend my brother and i went on a hunting trip together. This is our second time hunting together and i have discovered that we totally have different oppinions on what deer to shoot and what to pass on. It was our second day out and he has an archery only tag and a X12 tag for anyone who hunts in CA you know thats a good tag to have. But it was the second day and the sun had just gone down and we saw a spike fork hanging out with a spike. With no hesitation my brother shot this little buck at 20 yards. that was fine with me but when the time came for me to shoot at the same size buck the next morning i passed on him to see what else we could see. now my luck have it we did not see any more deer and my brother was pissed that i passed up on this buck. now are there any other CA hunters who think i should have taken this buck or i did the right thing and passed on this deer? let me know what you think.
