Default Bucks make a clicking sound?

I read my first issue of Peterson's Bowhunting mag and there was an article this month about how bucks make a clicking sound right before they mate and if used properly it can cause other bucks to come running to try to intercept the hot doe. They said if you inhale and exhale through a "True Talker" it will produce the clicking sound. Has anyone heard this before? Is it a quick like roll your tongue clicking or is it like one per second...anyone know anything about this?

hey natimage i read that same article. i'm hoping to give it a go this coming season. i've tried it with my caller which is the one you mentioned. i got a sorta clicking sound to come out of it once or twice. lol, my wife says i look rediculous every time i do it. but hey if it brings in the deer then i'll keep looking funny.

I have the buck roar from Primos and it makes it very easy. It is a click click click click click click sound. I've used it 30 seconds or so before rattling and had some success with bucks coming in.

My thought process is make the sound of a buck ready to mate, and then he was challenged and I'm hoping the commotion draws in other bucks.

Many years ago I was hunting the Clark county forest. I decided to go squirrel hunting immediately after I got back from bowhunting. I left my camo with the tinks on my pants legs on and headed out. I thought I herd a twig snap so I stopped and listened. Sure enough out steps a nice wide 8pt. He got within 15yds of me. Anyway while he was walking in with his nose to the ground it sounded like an old door creaking as it opens, and there was some clicks in there too. That was the first time I ever heard such a thing from a buck.

I hav'ent heard about this yet. Sounds like something to try out. I have heard bucks snort-weezing and grunting but hav'ent heard these "clicks"before. I think deer are evolving. They make more different noises every year, they may be talking one of these days.

The only time I have seen or heard Bucks do this is when they were giving a warning to another buck, their mains stuck up and they started sidewinding making the clicking sound.
Not saying they don't do it right befor breeding, I'm just saying the times I have heard them do it they were saying Give Me MY Space.

I find this funny. There was a deer call in the early 80"s that made this clicking sound. I believe woodswise made it. I just think it is funny that this new sound has been discovered.

Its whats called a Rage Grunt. Ive heard this first hand from a few bucks over the year. You can actually imitate the sound with any call. I do it often during the peak of the rut. I dont think it helps anymore than any other call but its a good call to add to the arsenal.

Heres a website with pretty much all the common sounds a buck will make.

http://www.wideworldofhunting.com/so...DeerSounds.htm

The rage grunt is in the list.
