Default Cutting shooting lanes.

Our archery season starts September 19th this year, when would you go in to cut shooting lanes and check stands? I hunt on 15 acres of private land, and I leave my ladder stands out all year.

I would go to check my stands about 2 to 3 weeks before hunting season starts and cut my shooting paths about a week before huntng season starts. The reason I say a week is cause it might grow back up in 3 to 2 weeks.

If I hunted out of the same couple trees all season I would of been in there and trimmed up everything a couple weeks ago.

I have 6 ladder stands, and 1 ground blind. I usually move a couple of them around at least once a year.

honestly, i would have already cut my lanes. i usually cut mine around the end of june. i cut them down to the ground and have never had a problem with them being overgrown come sept hunting season. i understand checking your stands 3 weeks out but i would not want a soul in those woods within three weeks of the opening day. No need to educate the deer as to where you will be. Its hard enough hunting as is. Just my 2 cent

Yep, I would of had this done at least a month ago, cut it down low early that way minimal trimming is needed if any later in the summer! Good luck this season!

make sure you wear gloves, handling the brush/limbs.

sooner the better...the longer you can leave the stands untouched before opening day the better.

I actually had to take down two smaller trees (last weekend) to clear my lanes from new stand spot this year. I laid them long ways across a parrallel path that the deer have been traveling, so basically they are guiding them straight under my stand.

I wont be going anywhere near the place until week before to grab my camera to see if my natural funnel worked. Lots of tracks on this particular trail so we will see if it pays off!
