The only "scouting" that I did was during turkey season. Didn't find anything new that could be used for next season but I already have a couple of new places in mind already.

Still too early for me, but I have a couple of places in mind for when I lace up the boots.

I scouted all mine in Feb-March. While there was still snow on the ground.

As soon as the season ends, scouting begins. I walk old ground, new ground and maybe ground. That's the time when there are no leaves on the trees, the sign is obvious and the bugs are few. I may check some stuff out here and there through the spring and summer but serious scouting mileage is kind of done.

I've been hunting in my area long enough that I have my stand sites pretty well mapped out/set up. I don't really "scout" too much, more just a snip here or there of new growth to clear existing spots. I don't even go into my woods until the end of August to set my Cuddeback. Then I'll only check it every two weeks. If you know your area, less exposure is better.

I scouted a pretty good amount from February-May and probably put 5-6 new stand sites into my arsenal. I have slowed down a bit as the temperatures have risen. However, I like to get out there during the summer and really walk a good deal in the heat to find good spots...it is a great workout to walk 4-5 miles in the hot sun, all the while moving up and down hills.

Only ariels and topo maps. ( I had some of the better topo readers pick thier locations on the property) I know my areas pretty well, just looking for those travel routes I may have missed. I'll start putting the boots on the ground soon. I also use squirrel season for heavier scouting.

A little fun with the boy...
A huge buck bed with hair in it, and rubs all around it!!!
A hairy rub in another spot besides another bed!
So far so good and exciting, just can't barely wait until Sept 15th - ya-hoo!

Nice pics, I have never seen a public land spot with a bed that clearly obvious before.
