I shot Recurves then Compounds for years with fingers. On the compounds I shot a cushion plunger with a Golden Key 2000 I believe it was called?

IMHO if you shoot a compound I think you would be much better off learning to shoot it with a release properly. After a year you would be glad you went this route.

Modern Bows are becoming increasingly hard to shoot with fingers. 2 things that are not good for shooting fingers is low holding weight, and short A to A because of the finger pinch.

Good Luck with whatever you decide.

Dan

Releases are also much more accurate than fingers hence differing classes for competition.

I still shoot fingers and use a Whisker Biscuit, never saw the need to go to a release...

On my "fingers" bow, I shoot a Nap Center-rest, it's been what I've liked the best, I know a Whisker Biscuit is also a rest a lot of finger shooters like, and Bo-Doodle makes one that that I've seen more than a few guys shoot as well.

Here's the BoDoodle I've seen quite a few times, and have a buddy that shoots....

Here's the NAP CenterRest.....

And I think everyone knows a WB, so I'm not finding one of them to post.

I agree with the ATA but explain the other thing Dan.

To answer the question of the OP, I used a flipper rest when I was still shooting a compound. I hated the thought of a release so I never went that route.

Steve, IMO the lower holding weight makes it harder to get a clean release off of your fingers.

Instead of snapping off, it will have a tendency to roll off.

You can also shoot good groups without a peep, I've never used one...
