Default What does this mean to you?

All really wild scenery is attractive. The true hunter, the true lover of wilderness, loves all parts of the wilderness, just as the true lover of nature loves all seasons. There is no season of the year when the country is not more attractive than the city; and there is no portion of the wilderness, where game is found, in which it is not a keen pleasure to hunt."
- Theodore Roosevelt

Now to me this explains a true hunter and lover of the wilderness.

It would be nice to have someone with his eloquence representing hunters today. These days we have loudmouth idiots like Ted Nugent running around and trying to make everyone think that he represents hunting. He is a sorry excuse of a spokesperson and anyone who cares about the future of hunting should let him know it.

Although Uncle Ted has is own way of thinking, we could do a lot worse. His general thoughts, as I hear them, are to live off the land, eat what you shoot, don't do drugs, don't drink excessively, and be one with nature. Hard to say any of that is bad. Sure he comes across as pretty extreme, but deep down, I thinkhe has a good message. Love him or hate him, he does good for the hunting community.

Yes, he would have! Roosevelt was someone respected in all levels of society. Good message or not, Nugent will NEVER get that kind of recognition. In fact he will make more non-hunters think that all hunters are one step below barbarians like he is. That is NOT what the non-hunting public should perceive us as. There is NO way that this could benefit hunting in the long run. Anyone who thinks it will is sadly mistaken.

Nugents hunts high fences - had he taken a stand AGAINST high fenced areas he could have been something more special than what he is ..
