How fast do rodents chew on sheds?

I was out shed hunting today and we found one shed but there wasn't much left to it.

how fast can the rodents get done with a shed?
The shed we found is very thick (it may not look that thick in the picture but it is thick) and it seems like the main beam continued pretty far along with the tines going up. The browtine was chewed apart to.



Do you think this was an early shed and the mice got to it or do you think its from last year? Or can the mice chew them apart that fast

Oh I forgot to mention...

I shot a nice 8 pointer during the season and we tracked it along ways. We crossed a creek and there was a big pile of blood right there. But we still didn't find the buck. Well we found this shed at thesame place that buck crossed and we never noticed it there before.

My brother found a shed last week that we walked over 3 times tracking wounded deer, and probably 3 or 4 time sshed hunting.
