Default AWESOME encounter

Folks,

My parents were driving this past Saturday and came across this beautiful eagle. Has anyone ever seen an eagle eat a deer on the side of the road like this? Very neat.

Click here if you want to see the pictures and more about it

This time of year, we see lots of eagles along the river.

Have a good one!

I have never seen one eat a deer, but Oklahoma State University owns a lake about 12 miles west of Stillwater, I live about 1/2 mile from the west side of the lake and I guess they have put some pairs of bald eagles out there. I was coyote hunting last year and was able to throw my binocs up on one flying, wow what a bird. This past fall I was riding in the pasture behind my house and I am pretty sure I saw another one flying didnt have my binocs to be 100 percent sure but I dont know what else looks like that. From what I hear in the classrooms I guess that some of the eagles have moved to a smaller lake near the lake that OSU owns, its a pretty cool deal I guess.

I saw 1 about 5 years ago on the side of the road. It was the first bald eagle I ever saw in person in the wild.

I've held a fully mature one before. Caught him one day canoeing in the spring taking pics of the spring waterfowl migration. Came upon him sittin on a log and went to get closer and noticed he was sick. Hoped out ran him down and caught him. Rushed him to raptor rehabilitator at vet clinic 30 min away but the specialist was gone for the weekend so they IVed to buy time till she returned him but still couldnt save him. He died 2 hours after I dropped him off.... We see tons of them daily here living right off the Mississippi. WCL
