Default crazy....

just thought id share a quick story with my HN friends...
Went to the camp this past weekend for my second to last hun tof the season. The water was to high for me to cross to get to one of my fav spots , so I was riding the 4 wheeler down the trail trying to figure out where to go. All of a sudden I thought jus go in right here. After checking out the area I decided that it was the worst place I could have chosen, pure swamp, no feed trees etc. Against my better judgment I put the hip boots on and went. The water at several points was bout a half inch below my hip boots, ankle deep in others.
After about a mile or so I found dry ground and decent trees but none suitable for my climber, another half a mile or so It started looking like I wasent gonna find a tree, but daylight was not far away. I finally found a scrappy little tree that might work. Climbed up and got only about 12' up and found a branch that stopped me from getting any higher. Daylight was on me so I just figured Id sit and hope for the best. Shortly after setteling in a doe came in browsing on something, she wasonly bout ten yards away, before I knew it I had 9 does within 30 yards all around. I hoped a buck would show up but I couldent help but give in to temptation and drew back on the biggest nanny in the bunch, let the rage tipped maxima fly!!!! Perfect shot!!!!! I saw the blood splatter....now here is the crazy part..... She jumped took one leap and went back to browsing....???? Not a deer spooked off, after second guessing my shot for what seemed to be forever ( her vitals were behind a bush so I couldent tell) I was just about to take another shoot she wobbled and stood up on her hind legs and fell over....still none of the deer spooked!!!! after about 30 min of watching deer, I decided it was time to go get her so I made a little noise to try and run the others off....they looked at me as if to say "Who are you?" I finaly stood up and threatend to shoot another out loud.....still they did not go!!!! As God is my witness I just started letting my bow down and when my bow hit the ground I looked up and THERE HE WAS!!! The biggest buck I have seen in 15 years of hunting this area....I rushed to get my bow up but by time I got it to me I looked up not a deer in sight cept for the doe I had shot....go figure
For the record this was the biggest doe I ever shot @ 153# (Big for where I hunt) Have a good one!

Very cool story. Look at it this way, just think how bid he will be in Oct. and what you have to look forward too. If you need anyone help with putting him down in Oct., just give me a shout.

Congrats first on the doe!!!! Isn't that just the way it goes you go to a place so crazy you know you are not going to see a deer and you shoot one and see the biggest buck of your life, my biggest fell to a spot just like yours 50 yards off a road and a little finger of woods but man did it hold some big bucks this year.. Man I know how you feel! I shot a doe before and waited a while, then sent my gear down on the rope and was in the process of climbing down and then a nice 8 pointer ran through that I had originally been trying to get in my sights. maybe next year though.

Neat story. Sometimes while hunting I think, "it's God's way of saying it's meant to be". I think you have experienced that. Congrats on the doe and congrats on the new treestand site!
