Default Southern Alabama rut

Anybody know whats going on.

I usually try to get up to Andalusia around the 15th.

My buddies up there are telling me they have seen very little activity.

Anyone have any up to date info ? [/align]__________________

I usually get to hunt just outside of Aurburn for the last 3 weeks of the season, but this year I will only be down for the last 4 days before the last weekend. I have heard the same, not much activity. We have been trying to get the season to open 2 weeks later and run till the middle of Feb for the last few years to no avail. We have not seen the real action until Feb for the last couple years. Gamewarden said he saw a buck mount a doe opening weekend of turkley season last year, Mar 15th I beleive. Nothin like deer season opening in October and the fawns still learning to walk.

I live 12 miles east of Andalusia and hunt about 30 miles north of Andalusia. On our place, bucks are making and working scrapes, yet we are still seeing some bucks walking together. Yesterday, my dad saw a young buck work a scrape and then join with a mature buck, and they walked away together! Some people around here are seeing bucks chasing does, and some are seeing bucks walking together. Maybe one day we'll have a decent rut down here.
