Default Bowhunters hunting

In contrast to the "Archery Snipering" post; What's the closest killing shot you've made on a critter with your bow and what kind of critter?

Mine was the only turkey that I've taken with the bow. He came out from behind a tree that I was using as a blind (already at full draw) at about the length of an arrow shaft and lost his head in the deal.

My closest shot on a deer was 6ft. from the base of the tree...I was 6ft off the ground.

14-15 yards on a Pronghorn buck. Deer wise, My doe was around 23, and buck was around 17-18. Only three bowkills to date.

Well, I guess I could count the Stingray I shot directly down...and several gar/carp/bigheads/catfish shot at less than an arrows distance..but bowfishing is different.

My closest kill to date was a buck a few years back. I shot him at 8 yards.

Deer, 3 yards.

I once tried a finishing shot on a woodchuck. I walked up to the angrybutmostlyimmobile critter, drew my bow and shot down at him from about a foot away.

It wassummer. I was wearing a lightweight t-shirt. My bow was 44" axle to axle. ....I just about gave myself a field masectomy.
Dang that hurt.

I had the mostawesome bruise that I couldn't show anyone. [:-]

A buck from the 2004 season. He was within two feet of the tree I was in (I was 13ft up), in fact he was chewing on my pull rope when the arrow entered him.
