All, a buddy of mine who is PCS (Moving to another Air Force base) gave me this stand...he got it from some one who had left the base as well...i will more than likely do the same when it is my turn to leave...anyway, i was hoping one of you Hunting Vets can identify it...i am trying to find one more section for it....right now it is about 12' from the ground to the seat and next year when i set it up i hope to be at about 16'-18' from the ground...here are a few pics.
Thanks in advance! Bo

That is a Family Traditions Treestand I do believe. Google that brand and see what you come up with.

I believe it is called the "Back Breaker" model. Does it come with a mule to carry it? Looks like a gun hunter rig imo...I wouldnt expect a mature whitetail to tolerate that thing within bowrange. It is designed to sit in with a high powered rifle and shoot deer a mile away with
I'm new to bowhunting. After many years of using a rifle I lost the thrill. I know that working to get closer to my quary will bring back that thrill. One of the things I was looking forward to, as I studied the forums, was to have exchanges with withhigh class hunters. After all, bowhunters (it seemed to me) are a little closer to nature and probably have formed a close commeradery with fellow bowhunters resulting in a certain mutual respect. After spending the last 4 months on many forums I have certainly learned quite a bit. The only problem is I sure have to cut through alot of rude and inconsiderate posts to get to the class part of the sport. Boy was I wrong, but I can live with that. Thanks to all of the sportsman on all the forums who take the time to share their knowledge. It's quite sad about the rest of the posters. Seems those peoplejust look down their noses at others. RR

HCH...you would think that just by looking at it...but this stand is now located 20yds from a very nice trail, and all my buddy had to do (and i will do the same) was to set it up in in early summer...i plan on removing the camo burlap and adding section of fake house trees in its place, making it more natural looking...here is a pic of the trail.

LTK...you are right Sir!....thanks for your help!...the site says you can only add one section to their stands for safety reasons...that will put me at about 16'...good thing i saw that.
Thanks again!

Granted, deer will get used to it and they will travel by it(especially at night) and what not. But a mature buck that is strange to the area and cruising the woods during the rut will spot that stand in a heartbeat. Even with the blind removed....just my opinion.
