Default Do farmers help you during the season?

By that I mean do landowners/farmers you hunt on give you good tips? Such as where they are seeing deer, possibly a big buck, maybe even a tip that may be helpful gaining permission to hunt on another property?

Happened to me a few times by the same brothers.

YES, I HAVE THREE PLACES THAT ARE CROP LAND. I MAKE IT A PRIORITY TO STAY IN TOUCH WITH THE LAND OWNERS. THEY TELL ME WHEN THEY SEE DEER AND IN WHAT FIELD. I HAVE HAD A COUPLE OF THEM EVEN CALL ME AND TELL ME WHEN THE DEER WHERE IN THE FIELD. I ALSO GO BY AND TALK TO THEM AFTER THEY HARVEST A FIELD SOMETIMES THEY WILL JUMP A BUCK WHEN HARVESTING THE FIELD. ONE THING TO REMEMBER IS THAT YOU NEED TO TREAT THEM JUST LIKE YOUR BEST FRIEND AND FOLLOW THERE WISHES WHEN HUNTING THERE PROPERTY. BY FOLLOWING THIS SIMPLE RULE IT HAS PAID OFF BIG TIME THIS YEAR. ONE OF MY LAND OWNERS LET ME HUNT A 120 ACRE AREA THAT I ASK TO HUNT. HE ONLY ASK THAT I SHUT THE GATE BEHIND ME AND NOT TO DRIVE ACROSS THE FIELD BUT ALONG THE EDGE. I DID AS HE ASK SINCE THE SPRING TURKEY SEASON. A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO I DROPED OF A SOME DEER JERKY TO HIM AND HE GAVE ME THE RIGHTS TO HIS WHOLE FARM COME JANUARY. HIS FARM IS ABOUT 500 ACRES BUT IS BROKEN UP, TWO OTHER HUNTERS HAD MOST OF THE LAND HOWEVER THEY DID NOT DO AS HE ASK AND IT COST THEM. THE NICE THING IS I DON'T HAVE TO PAY A DIME TO HUNT THE OTHER GUYS WHERE PAYING $ 500.00 A YEAR. THIS LAND OWNER ALSO TOLD HIS FRIEND WHO HAS AROUND 300 ACRES NEXT TO HIM AND IT HAS NOT BEEN HUNTED IN SIX YEARS AND HOW I DID AS HE ASK. GUESS WHERE I GET TO HUNT FOR FREE NEXT YEAR. FOR 2009-10 I NOW HAVE 800 ACRES TO HUNT WITH MY SON AND ONE FRIEND. GOOD HUNTING.

YES
The landowner that I just met and secured permission with for the 08 season. I'm a social guy. HCH can atest to that. Actually anyone that knows can. I like to stoop by the landowners place at least once a week when I'm hunting as its on the way to his land. Everytime I stopped in was for at least a 2 hr talk....... 4 hrs being the norm. We ate drank coffee and would shoot the poop. Inevitabley he would pick up the phone and call another landowner that was in the area and ask if we could hunt there too.
One day it was juyst like this. He told us he saw 20 deer. 7 bucks on the way to a friends place to help her out. 2 of the bucks were fighting on the rd. Our guy had to stop his truck and wait for them to get away...... when he drove by he stopped 50yds down the rd and stopped. Looked in the rear view miror and they were already back at it. When he told me this i asked where and he picked up the phone. Great guy to say the least!!!!!

not only do i talk to the ones i hunt on. i also talk to the ones i dont hunt on.
I was trying to find a deer i had seen earlier in the year. after talkinng to all the other guys that hunt around me I went to my neighbors house that doesn't hunt at all. i dont think he even knows how to load a gun. he proceeds to tell me tat he saw a big deer walking across his property and right onto mine. i show him the trail cam pic and he says, yep thats him. now i know what time and where he enters.

They sure do.

All the land I hunt is farmland and it is owned by my boss/relative. He gives me calls on the regular about where he is seeing the most deer. He also tells me whether he is seeing more in the evenings or mornings and things like that. Once in a while he will tell me about seeing a big buck but it is mostly just number ofdeer seen.

No. They found out that I was trying to have sexual relationships with all their daughters. They threw me out. I hunt public land now.

Somewhat. He's never been a hunter so he says he sees alot, but when I ask about bucks his resonse is, "I seen a few little ones running around". Then I show him some pics of some "good" ones and he says "Yep". And then he can guess where abouts my cams are set up at. But thats about as specific as he gets.

my best friend is a farmer....hes atleast double my age...more of whole nother family for me than friends...

anyways....i been hunting with him and our crew since i was 16...rifle hunting....putting on drives...

started bowhunting 3 years ago....hes been a HUGE help...those hours on the tractor, driving by his fields etc etc means he sees ALOT of game...all i have to do is ask..he will get me on the biggest bucks anytime he can. he knows if i kill one in bow season, he got a good deer dog for the crew all of rifle season....

but anything else, hes a huge help too....groundhogs, turkeys, doves...you name it....dove season is always a hoot to me....guys will line up all over the place....shooting 1 here and there...i ask him where i need to be...if the birds are anywhere, he knows where and im shooting my limit or running outta shells!

im ALOT closer to him than most people are with a farmer and/or landowner...but it works out great. just got home from coonhunting with him actually. his place is really like my 2nd home....his 2 daughters are like my sisters...

just a matter of asking....hes even helped me carry stands in and pick out trees....
