Default Climbing Treestand

Hey guys I was just looking for advice about climbers. Of all the piles of hunting gear I have I still don't have a climber. My family and I have had a lease for several years and would just use chain on stands set at various locations around the property. I would like to have the option of being more mobile if the opportunity presents itself, not to mention when I'm hunting places other then our lease. Anyways I was wondering what brands you guys would recommend and why. Price will be somewhat of an issue but I'm willing to pay for quality. Other then that I'm pretty open minded, thanks in advance

There are lots of good ones out there. I can speak of three seperate brands that I have used, Loggy Bayou, Summit and Lone Wolf.

If your looking for a simple, one peice stand that is extremely light, the Loggy's, IMO, are tough to beat. I had and used one for years and wish in some ways, that i never got rid of it.

I still have a Summit stand. Its a bigger, two peice stand, but still reasonably light at 21lbs. I absolutely loved this stand for its comfort and security in the tree. They climb like a cat and are very secure. Plus the biggest advantage is the comfort. It's almost like sitting in a recliner.

The Summits are tought to beat, but I gotta say, I am really loving my Lone Wolf Sit and Climb I got this year. It's lighter, and much, much quieter than they other two I mentioned. They use a one peice cast aluminum plateform that doesn't make a peep. But, you'll pay for it. They're about 100 bucks more than the high end Summits. I was skeptical about the Lone Wolf. But, after using it for most of this past season, I'm hooked.

I've climbed probably 175X in a little over 3 seasons. The first 100 of those were out of a Summit Viper....and I have little to complain about with that stand.

This year....I knew I wanted to get into some places more off the beaten trails.....and I wanted a stand that would pack easier.....set up more quietly.....and be comfortable enough to allow me to sit 5-6 hours.

I bought a LW sit and climb.

It's now my go-to stand. Love it. 70+ sits in it this season, alone.

Good luck.

Hey GMMAT is the one your talking about the Alpha Sit and climb?
I just started using a climber (someone elses) and am going to add a climber to my stand options. Does that bar get in the way or does it fold out of the way pretty easy?

Honestly....the bar will stow out of the way really nicely. In the "up" position....it allows you to get closer to the tree, also.

But I keep it in the climb position (encompassing me). I like the security of knowing it's there.....and it hasn't gotten in the way, yet.

Yes. The Alpha sit and climb.

I've only used my Summit, several hundred climbs in it, and i love it. All welded construction, no bolts to rattle, very quiet setup, and very secure attachment system. Can't go wrong with a Summit. Whatever you do, spend the money on a good one, and Summit and LW are leading the charge IMO.

I personally did not like the LW Alpha sit/climb, but its not because of the stand itself. I'm a tall guy and need that bar to stay out away from the tree for me to sit and climb. In this case, it swings down and therefore puts my knees too close to the tree and I can't get much advance with each movement. Probably a really good stand, but if you're over 6'4"...think twice.
