RE: Purchasing a Youth Bow... Need Help
This is gonna depend a lot on his size/strength. Most states require 35# but 40# is probably a more reasonable minimal setting for whitetail.
I bought a cheaper one for my daughter last year (Browning Micro Adrenaline ~$200). This bow was adjustable from 30-40# and 20-28" DL. The wide range of adjustment is desirable for a quickly growing child but the acccuracy and speed were lacking.
This year, I replaced it with a 30-40# 2006 Bowtech Equalizer. Her accuracy and speed improved dramatically. She has never looked back.
If you can possibly afford to get him into a better bow - BT Equalizer, Hoyt Selena, Mathews Mustang (???), you'll save money in the long run and he'll shoot better.
