Default 2 mature bucks together, unusual for me at this time of the season

At the suggestion of a farmer I hunt on, I asked and received permission to hunt another parcel of land from his brother. Never set foot on the property before, but thought I'd give it a try this afternoon. About an hour before dark appeared 3 mature does and the 2 best bucks I've seen all season. Both of the bucks are definite shooters, both will go at least 140-150. The wider racked buck came within 60 yards before retreating back to a thicket where the does had returned after feeding in a wheat field. From a much farther distance the other buck's rack seemed more impressive with much more height and more mass though not as wide. But I can't get over how two very mature bucks were hanging out together, not sure or don't remember ever witnessing this during this time of year.

Good luck nailing one of them.

I'm sure the wide racked one was at least 3.5 but not sure about the taller, more massive racked buck because never came closer than 100 yards or so. Didn't have my binocs but even at that distance he was impressive. Looked like he had a slightly larger body as well, but just too far away to tell about the body lines.

I thought that maybe If they were both 3.5's they might tolerate each other more. Definitely weird.

Thats a neat experience Greg! In all honesty I've seen this type of behavior during the first week of Dec. Eating together with does and every once in a while the would half arse run the does in a couple circles and then go right back to eating.
