Default OK Doe Killers..some advice needed

So since I filled my buck tag in Ohio, I bought a doe tag, to get time in the bush. Many of you know I've only killed 2 does in my life-time of hunting. 1 was when I was 14 with a muzzleloader and the other a few years ago with the bow.

Anyway heres where I need some help. I see plenty of Bucks and prior to shooting the one I got, I legitimately passed on at least 6 other chances at bucks. All season I've had 1 doe in range and was still buck hunting at the time, so I didn't shoot her. The thing is with a buck if I see him. I'm better than 50/50 and grunting him within range. And have blind called 2 others in just this season.
I see plenty of doe, but how do ya convince them to come to you? A buck grunt hasn't worked, I tried a fawn bleat once without success, it seemed unnatural at this time of year.

So gimme your doe busting tips..I know set-up differently, when I do that and set up where they came from, it's a proven fact they'll come out where I was!

So what say you???

Hunt heavy sign, scout for does not bucks....also helps during the rut, the bucks will be where the does are!!! Locate bedding areas, good food sources, as I believe we're in for a LONG COLD winter, and that may play in our favor to have a late season food source known to us.

if your seeing these bucks, the does are already there. just hunt more and look for feeding, bedding, or heavy trail usage

See Gr8.....sometimes it pays to be a perennial nanny-whacker!

I'm in the same boat, now (sans the buck already in the bag[&:]). My brother was just here....and he wants me to take a doe for him if I can. I wihs I'd known that last night. I had the biggest one yet under my tree for a little while.

Like you (not saying YOU are "lost") I was a bit "lost" when the rut kicked in on the new land. I'd paid so much attention to the buck areas....I didn't know where to go to look for a doe group.

I can always fall back, though, to the old haunts.

Funny year there, though. The place where i normally see tons of does.....I'm seeing hardly any deer. I'm actually seeing more bucks there than does, right now (which was my goal, all along).

I have never tried calling to a doe. Wouldn't know where to begin.

Good luck....and let us know how it goes. I'm back in "shoot" mode....after passing does hand over fist. I've taken one deer in my last 55 hunts.

So ya wanna lace the bagpipes on a doe eh??

Hmmmm, have ya tried soft music and candles...ladies love that sappy crap....

Ok, heres what seems to work around here. Find the beds, day beds and morning beds...they will almost always have two sets, one close to the food sources and one for safety....you need to get in stand waaaaay bfore light between the two.

Second, if the bucks have slowed down chasing them its easier to pin them down. Look around brushy river bottoms and pine funnels for night sits, and heavy fenclines for morning sits. If you are able to bait, do so in the pine funnels where they feel safe.

Third, and most important. Make sure yor camo blends with your enviroment well and USE ABSOLUTLY NO DEER SCENTS. Does will not come anywhere near someplace that stinks of another deer in heat or that of a dominant buck. Key here is don't want her to think that anything has changed from the last few nights. Anothe good Idea is to put out feeding doe decoys with alert doe decoys.....but never call to them or use scents.

After all this it comes down to being at the right place at the right time.

Good Luck.

I don't care who you are or how good of a hunter you are. It seems when you really want to shoot a doe the damn things never do what they were doing before when you didn't want to shoot one and you had them all over. Stick to what your doing Bob.

Doe hat; they all love it, bucks and does. (Just make sure who's hunting around you.) I've walked right up on rutting bucks with it on and just had a doe run 100 yards to check me out and stalked up within 12 yards of her with it onlast week. Pull the bill down to cover your face and walk right at 'em.
