If you have to put 2 arrows in a deer, it's still 2 arrows released, one deer bagged. I was striving for a perfect season, (who doesn't right?) but am already flawed. I have a 5/6 ratio. #6 did not result in a wounded deer but rather and thankfully just a wonded maple. But for the less fortunate, I wont pretend that things don't happen out of our control.
Just thought it'd be interesting to see how everyone is doing this year.

Deer coming into my treestand, a big non-typical. Setup is perfect. I draw back, take aim, and the pin settles perfectly on it's chest.....My thumb hits the release, arrow glides noiselessly toward it's target............then I woke up.....dang, another day of classes *sigh*

The prey must have the predator, just as the predator needs the prey. One without the other is something less. The wolf without the deer becomes a dog. The deer without the wolf becomes a cow. And what does man become?

I don't much like what this says.....
So you spine a deer.....and follow up with 2-3 more arrows.....and you're penalized (in your scenario) as far as your "batting average"? I'd rather know I did the right thing.
Extenuating circumstances. I won't play.
Edit - And no....I haven't spined a deer, this year.
