Default Out done by one of my students!!

I have the boy in my US History class that loves hunting, but he's not your average kid...he is extremely smart and will discuss and debate the latest in politics with the class and has a very strong opinion. We were talking after class today and we talked about hunting of course...so I asked him what kind of bow he used....I said "what you have a Mathews or Bowtech?" He said "oh you mean compound??"!!!!! I said " what you use a X bow?? he said" naw, I shoot a recurve dude.." I began to to talk more seriously at this point and he talked me under the table about traditional equipment and why he uses it and what I can do to get started!!! A 17 yr old kid was in my classroom guiding me throught all this Trad jargan!!!! To top it all off.....he has killed at least 2 deer with it and one was a great 7 pt!!! Holy crap!! I have found a kid I want to adopt!!!!

Is this the kid whose family owns that big farm down in Surry or wherever you were telling me about?

Thats pretty advanced at 17.... I had just started bow hunting... hell I'm 10 years older than him and still not good enough with a recurve to hunt with it.

I always liked talking hunting with my teachers. Especially when they own land

Last year I killed 3 deer...all3 came off of my teachers land on the side of a mountain

Oh the benefits of shootin' the breeze..

You can't beat stuff like this with a stick and string!! He invited me to his house to shoot with he and his dad on their target range!! God i love my job!! Andy, you ready for today?

Unfortunately, the only teacher I had that hunted was a woman, but she was fun to talk to, and always interested in our hunting adventures. To this day nearly 17yrs. later she always asks how the hunting's been, and tells me how things have been over the last year or two on her family's farm.

You'll be one of the teachers that this kid remembers for his life!!!

I still ice fish with an old high school teacher.

No worries, I out-do him too. Always catch more fish. It's just one of those things
