Default Please explain the new Mathews bows?

Ok im a little confused here. Im looking at the new Mathews bows and hear all this "Mcpherson" talk. Is it a Mathews or Mcpherson bow? They hardly even look like Mathews bows.

All I know is...my shop got one of the new 340IBO bows in....and he shot his hunting arrow through it, today. The one he chrono'd was a 29" (instead of a 30")....and the arrow weight was 6gr over IBO.

298fps.

Matt McPherson is the creator of Mathews bows. Therefore the "McPherson" talk.

That's about what I thought. So 356 @ 29" = 298fps Wow. What did you shop owner say?

Honestly? He said anyone who shot the Bowtech line and then shot the Mathews.....and still bought the Mathews.....

......already had their mind made up they were gonna buy a Mathews.

I've owned a Mathews bow....and it was a solid shooter. These are not my words. I have nothing against the line...and would shoot another in a minute if I decided to switch brands.

Mathews for me is kinda like Penn State, or the Yankees. I don't really have anything against the team, it's the knucklehead fans that drive me nuts, the ones that scream we're number one all day everyday, even when it's obvious they're not. For example, I am an Oriole fan and I know we ain't number one, so I don't blindly scream it. I'll give the Yankees (Mathews) props when its due, but this round I will stay silent.

If his chrono only said 298 he might wanna get it checked. Theres absolutely no way in hell that a bow with an IBO of 340 will shoot at 298 with only a difference of an inch on DL and 6 grains on arrow weight. Sooooo what I'm saying is 298 at 29" 70# is a lie to me. Is he a Bowtech supporter? Cause this would make much more sense that way.

I'm with you on this one bud. I've only been into bowhunting for 2 years mind you, but when I first started looking/asking around as to what was the best I heard from a lot of Yankees Fans then i somehow managed to stumble across a local bowtech dealer and from what he told me and the background research I did I decided on a bowtech without ever even shooting a mathewes. Granted, this could have been a mistake on my part, however, I couldn't be happier with bowtech and I also enjoy the company of the less "abrassive" fans
