Default Withdrawals

After arrowing 2 doe and 2 bucks in 9 days I am having severe withdraws from not being able to hunt (buck hunt) and it's only been 4 days or so. All I can shootare does now, nothing wrong with that mind you but the anticipation is not the same, and itwill begetting much colder. 40's I can take but 20's is something I don't desire. Anyway, I sit at home while my partner is in the woods trying to nail his 2nd buck.I just wait for the text message from the tree.Oh well, it's back to work tomorrow anyway.[:'(]

Rick:

I kinda LIKE knowing all I can shoot are does (it happened to me in '06). For one thing....you KNOW you've already had a great year! No. 2.....You pretty much know you're shootin' when a deer or three comes in. No pressure to wait!

'Course....this could happen to you, too. I had this guy walk by me in '06 and I had not a tag for him. Mine worked out....and I killed him in '07.

I haven't taken a buck.....and I'd trade spots with you in a minute!

I don't know Rick, I get just as much pleasure shooting them with a camera as I do with a bow. Especially, if the net result is an incredibly good quality photograph. It is tough to get a good buck on film in low light conditions. Besides, if you're out there, you'll gain info you can use next season.

Best of luck

All I have to say is, I wish I had a problem like yours.I think quite often, as my Mom used to tell me, the anticipation is greater than the realization. When we score it's a great thrill, but it's almost a let down when the pursuit is over and there's no longer something to look forward to.

Me too Rick. I shot a buck Friday here in NY.(only get one buck tag for bow) Guns are going boom all over now so it's like the end of the season. We have a late season I could shoot a doe in, but really, I have one in the freezer and another in the garage half cut up. That's all the meat I need. Shot 2 nice bucks and I'm happy, but would love to beable to go with the intentions of whacking another. Fridays hunt was the quickest I've ever had. I left the camp at 12:30 and was back with the deer at 1:30. Just went in strange woods by the road where I found some trails meeting at a jucnction of pines, hardwoods and a brush lot. I was walking in and this guy jumps up and runs up the hill and stops at 40 yards. Stand on back, double lung and he only made it 40 yards. Down hill drag to the truck 100 yards away.

Good deal David. Is the story and pics up, maybe you sent them to me, I haven't checked email.I need to make a clarification that I'm surprised you didn't pick up on. I can kill 4 more bucks with the bow. 2 during the 2 weekshotgun season and 2 more during the 2 week muzzle load season I can hunt both seasons with the bow but have to abide by the gun laws and use the gun tags. Now in order to get both bucks I need to kill 2 does also so I'm looking at the potential of harvesting 4 more bucks and 4 more does. Actually I can shoot all the does I want.
