So, I went out hunting yesterday. Best day of the year so far. The weather was perfect, slight breeze, 40 degrees, and partly cloudy. I started seeing deer around 4, with a small 8 point walking a nearby ridge. I rattled, and he came in on a string. He walked right under my stand, but he was a 2.5 year old, so he needs to grow up some. I saw 3 more does being chased by a different 8 pointer about 140 yards away. This lasted for about 15 minutes. Well, I decided to get down cause it was that time. When I got to my truck, I opened the back door and put my bow inside. While I was taking off my safety vest, I heard a snort. I turn around, and 25 yards from my truck stands a 160" main frame 12. I almost pissed my pants. He turned and jumped a fence, then stopped 50 yards away and stared at me again. This time I had my bino's out and could see that he was indeed a 12, with a few kickers. He was wide, and he was tall. What are the odds, walking 300 yards to your truck, and seeing a shooter standing right next to it?

That's why i always have an arrow knocked when walking in or out of the woods. When i get to my truck i lay the bow on the ground with the arrow still knocked incase something like that happens while i am changing. I shot my first deer while walking back to my truck.
that just the way it happens sometimes, but if it is rut and there is estrus in there air he will stick around and breed a few more does and then you can shoot him
