Default My 5 year old is hooked!!

I took my 5 year old son out Sunday evening for a short sit in a friends buddy stand. It was pretty cold 33 with the windchill and I was thinking this will not last long but he wants to go so I will take him. We get all of our gear on and head into the woods. He is talking the whole way asking a lot of questions and of course the "are we there yet", why didn't we just take the Ranger? So we get up in the stand after making enough noise to wake the dead. We sit about 15 minutes, you know the point wherekids start getting bored andstart moving and talking. All of a sudden I hear something walking and look over and out of amazement a buck comes walking by. He comes within 30 yards or so of the stand and keeps going. I pull out my can call and have my son turn it over and the buck stops. I wisper to him to do it again and the buck heads our way and walks right under the stand. He wasin awe how that worked, dad wasas well to be honest. For those 5 minutes he didn't move a muscleand watched the deer and his movements, I was impressed. The buck was a small 4 point but still a neat experience. We get home and he said I am dissapointed dad. I said why is that, and he said because I didn't shoot him.I took the time to explain to him that we needed to let him grow a couple of more years and the reasons. Needless to say he has asked to go back again every night since. We both learned a lot from that evening.

That is awesome. It goes to show that it doesn't take harvesting a deer to make it a successful hunt. That had to have been a great experience. Congrats!!
