I have killed 4 deer this year. Nothing big or unique, I made a promise to myself last winter that I would hunt for a p&y buck this year.. I always shoot does prior to the rut, and I always pass on smaller bucks, this year has been no different, aside from the accidental cripple or so I though 3 pt... Im still hunting several days a week and I have seen no big bucks, everyone around in my group has either killed or seen or missed a big buck. Im hunting fresh stands, Im low impact in the woods, I pay attention to the wind, Im as scent free as I can be, Im hunting areas that have always had big bucks, sometimes I was lucky enough to kill them. What am I missing?? Luck? Have I lost my skill? Bad year? Who knows....but I will not give up. I had a great bow season last year and shot some nice bucks, but nothing I wanted to mount, this is driving me to keep at it, it's starting to consume me....but God I love it!

That alone is more success than i have and will ever have. Keep at it, its all you can do, we know you cant kill one unless your in the woods.
Landon, KEEP at it. I am going after a couple of big bucks the next two weeks. Win, lose, or draw noone can say I didn't work hard at trying to arrow a big boy. BEst of luck to you, I know you will succeed.
You'll be fine by the sounds of it. Look at it this way. Our season closes here on Saturday. We are only allowed one buck per year. From where I'm sitting, you have it made!

thanks for the encouragement Brett and Jim, I will stay with it as long as I have a breath in me, but it is a double edge sword.. most years I kill a decent buck, every few years I kill one to mount, this I have not seen either...but it is keeping me thinking and upbeat about the next trip in... I have seen less deer this year than most years previous, but I needed to have this happen, it has made rethink how I have been doing things and makes me appreciate any sightings or kill that much more.

Youre doin better than me, I have pictures of them, I have seen scrapes made new every mornin that wasnt there the afternoon before, yet I cant close the deal on a good buck with the bow. I am keeping at it, tryin new things. Switch it up one hunt, who knows it may work for ya.

Good luck out there! I think you will get your big one, and if not, then you will enjoy the time spent regardless.
I will be out there too, so here is to hoping that we both can get a little luck!
