Default Tought question, if taken seriously

Guys,

I had a very interesting and almost complex question asked to me by my 6 year old niece.

"Uncle Sean, would you still hunt deer if you could hear them talk?"

At first I laughed and was thinking in my head of two bucks walking in the woods talking about the chipmunk race they just watched and how it was a bad day at the track (not knowing it is about to get worse with me flinging an arrow at it).

But then it got me really thinking, deer, like most mammals have some sort of vocalization/ language, and if I could wear some sort of listen device that I could hear what they were saying would I be able to hunt them?

Honestly guys, I wouldn"t be able to. If I could hear what they were saying I could not pull the trigger.

But I ask you, if you could and really think about it, could you shoot the animal if you could understand its language?

No, I wouldn't.

Not only would you hear their idle chit-chat, but you would also hear their cries of pain.

Call me heartless, but, I would still hunt, and Not have a problem with it, I shot my first deer in the spine with an arrow, and I felt his heart beat when my knife went in, and I am still out hunting every chance I get, and as I layed the deers head down on the leaves again I thanked the deer for his meat.

but call me heartless if you want.

LOL...

Deer are soul-less creatures. They know eating, drinking, sleeping and making little deer. They aren't capable of complex thoughts like humans.

God put them here for us to enjoy.....and I enjoy eating them.

Yes...I would still hunt them if I understood their vocalizations. If you've ever hit a deer and heard it bawl.....you don't have to be Dr. Doolittle to figure that one out.

Yet I still hunt.

They also aren't capable of speech, which was the basis of the question.

But kiss my ass, just the same.

And no, I've never hit one and heard it "bawl."
